Compositions and Arrangements

Welcome to my compositions and arrangements page, dedicated to works that are mainly focused on educational purposes. Much of this collection was particularly created and/or derived for the youth ensemble that I currently direct, in order to provide these young students with music they may be familiar with, and might enjoy working on in an ensemble format; as well as introducing them to important musical figures and works throughout history. "Royals" (Guitar Ensemble)

This is a derivative work of the popular 2013 hit "Royals", as performed by Lorde, and arranged for 4-part guitar ensemble. The arrangement includes bass for a more robust, and full sound. Arranged for guitar ensemble by Ernesto G. Rivas, Tiny Redhead Music Publishing (2023).

"Aquarium"

from Carnival of the Animals, by Camille Saint-Saëns

This is an arrangement for small ensemble that includes guitars, pitched percussion instruments, and piano. This is a great piece to introduce young students to the famous French Romantic composer, Camille Saint-Saëns. This work has also been popularized in various contemporary media, including Beauty and The Beast, Charlotte's Web, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and The Simpsons. Arranged by Ernesto G. "Zelda's Theme"

From "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"

This is an arrangement for strings of "Zelda's Theme" (a.k.a. "Zelda's Lullaby"), from The Legend of Zelda, Orcarina of Time, © Nintendo 1998. I arranged this work for my middle school orchestra, and would consider this for advanced beginner to intermediate level musicians. While the violins have a fairly easy part, the cellos are working in 4th, 5th, and 6th positions. This could be a good piece to introduce those higher positions to an intermediate level 3 cellist.
