The Encore Performing Arts Studio Youth Guitar Ensemble returned to The Carolina Inn Assisted Living Facility of Fayetteville, NC, for a Spring performance on May 17, 2023.  This marks the second performance for the EPAS Guitar Ensemble at The Carolina Inn, solidifying a mutually beneficial partnership that not only provides residents with entertainment and social engagement, but gives our students performance experience and community outreach opportunities.  

The EPAS Youth Guitar Ensemble was established in 2022 to give students the opportunity to develop ensemble experience, as well as improve their musicianship.  As the director and conductor of the guitar ensemble, I carefully curate the repertoire with the intent of giving students exposure to selections from different musical periods, thus educating students on music history, while providing a stimulating challenge to encourage their musical growth.  

Selections for this performance included:  “Sheep May Safely Graze” BWV 208, by J. S. Bach; “Canon in D Major” (Pachelbel's Canon), by Johann Pachelbel;   “Ode to Joy” from Symphony no. 9, by Ludwig Van Beethoven; “The Entertainer”, by Scott Joplin; and “Here Comes the Sun”, by The Beatles (written by G. Harrison).
