May 18, 2024: The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra performs It's 2024 Spring Concert

May 18, 2024:

The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra performed It's 2024 Spring concert on May 18, 2024 at Pinecrest High School's R.E. Lee Auditorium.  The theme for the concert was “The 80's”, spanning over 240 years of music from 3 different centuries, and featuring masterful works from some of history's greatest composers.  This was such a great experience learning and preparing this program during rehearsals with the rest of the orchestra.  There were several works that I really enjoyed playing, among them Camille Saint-Saëns' “Carnival of The Animals” Suite, Mozart's Symphony no. 40 1st movement, Marriage of Figaro, and John William's Theme From E.T.

The concert was a great success, with a substantial audience in attendance that nearly filled the 1300 seat concert hall.  The turn out helped the orchestra to recoup it's yearly operating expenditures for the 2023-2024 concert season.  The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra is a non-profit organization that provides a community orchestra for the local Moore County and surrounding areas, mostly comprised of students at the high school and collegiate level, as well as community music educators and volunteer adults.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming ‘24-’25 concert season with eager anticipation to see what repertoire the orchestra will work on next!  Here is a video of the concert from the MPO's YouTube channel.  If you're looking for me, I'm 4th seat in the cello section:
